Greetings! I am honored and excited to join the West Kemper Elementary community as your new principal. As your new principal it is my mission to motivate, encourage and drive each and every member of our school staff into places of continual excellence as students, educators, parent-­‐partners, community-­‐based partners and life-­‐long learners.

West Kemper Elementary is bursting with great potential to far exceed expectations and to produce learners who refuse to be average and demonstrate that they are college and career ready.

As Plato realized, “the beginning is the most important part of the work,” I, too, must be systemic about my entry to effectively lead West Kemper Elementary. The action items outlined in my plan are indicative of my commitment to “seek first to understand” as I join you as your new leader on this awesome journey that is well underway.

As we begin our journey in the days ahead please know that I desire your input as we move toward becoming a “B” school. Together we can and will rise to the top because our commitment to join forces as a united school community, declaring that the students of WKE receive the best educational experience possible with the necessary 21st century skills to compete globally.

Goals & Objectives

1.      Establish and nurture positive and productive relationships with members of the West Kemper Elementary staff and students in order to better understand the norms and traditions of the school community-­‐at-­‐large.

2.     Establish a foundation for systemic continuous school improvement by identifying strengths and opportunities for growth for the school and school community.

3.     Collaboratively develop and communicate a clear vision for systemic continuous improvement (academic growth and achievement), grounded in evidence-­‐based outcomes and supporting by historical data and feedback from staff members, parents, community-­‐based partners, students and district personnel.

4.     Identify the strengths and areas for growth in curriculum and instruction to provide targeted professional development and continuous improvement.

5.     Identify strengths and targeted areas for growth in the areas of parental and community involvement to increase participation in school activities and events.

 ·       The business of the school must be conducted with clarity, collaboration and transparency.
